Understanding your NDIS plan
Your NDIS plan is a document that sets out the supports and funding available to you. It can feel overwhelming at first, but breaking it down into parts makes it easier to read.
The three parts of your plan
1. **About you** — your goals, circumstances, and living situation.
2. **Your supports** — the funding categories and what they cover.
3. **Your budget** — the total amount and how it is divided.
Core supports
Core supports cover everyday activities. This budget is flexible across the four sub-categories:
Capacity building supports
These are supports that help you build skills and independence over time. They are not flexible between categories — each category must be spent on its stated purpose.
Capital supports
Capital supports cover larger items like equipment or home modifications. These require quotes and usually take longer to approve.
What to do if something is missing
If a support you need is not in your plan, you can request a plan review. Talk to your support coordinator or plan manager about the process.
